03.05.2007:
Its been a while since we updated this page so now it is time to share more good news.
Stian who graduated from the NEAR Integrated ATPL Program in 2005 is flying Challenger 604 Business jet for Sundt Air based at Gradermoen Intl. Airport Oslo.

Torunn who graduated from our Integrated program in 2005 is flying C208 at Benair Gardermoen and according to her it is the greatest thing in the world (see article further down on the page with cockpit picture from a Benair flight).

Erik Tobias who graduated in 2006 got his job as first officer in Luftransport Air Ambulance flying the Beech BE200 Kingair within weeks of graduating from our Integrated ATPL Program.  Erik is one of several NEAR graduates that is now flying with Lufttransport. Se more further down on the page.

31.05.2006:
Yesterday we at NEAR's base in Conway South Carolina got a visit that proves for us that completing the NEAR Integrated ATPL program really prepares you for a job anywhere in the world. Frithjof who recently graduated from that program stopped by here at NAIA and rented a plane for a local flight. He was on his way to his new job in the Caribbien as a pilot for DHL. This job he got on the basis of his FAA licenses that our program provides our students with in addition to all nessecary JAR-FCL licenses and ratings. He was also offered an interview with a Swedish carrier that are starting routes all over Norway for the Norwegian Postal Service, but he chose to go to the Caribbien Islands instead.

26.03.2006:
We wrote a few months back that several of our newly graduated students attended the Widerøes Airline Admission tests in Oslo. Got word from one of them that he now had been hired and he writes about his First Officer training on his great web site. Before becoming a pilot through NEAR his job was within Information Technology and he is really good at web site design. Check out: www.oppvask.com

We have several students that had successful careers within other professions before the urge to fly became to strong and they joined NEAR to become professional pilots. For a prospective pilot candidate out there it can be hard to chose the right path to becoming a pilot as there are many ways to get a pilots licence. However, if you want a career as a professional pilot and want to be qualified for a good job right out of school, NEAR/NAIA should be your natural choice. Just take a look at this page or ask any civillian educated pilot in Scandinavia.

07.03.2006:
The airline business must really be on a roll, the good news just keeps coming our way:

Andrè who graduated from our Integrated ATPL program in 2005 got a job with Danish Air Transport flying the ATR42 Regional airliner. Danish Airtransport have scheduled passenger flights between cities like: Florø-Oslo, Billund-Stavanger and Billund-Kaunas.

01.03.2006:
Short update on Christoffer and Fredrik that we wrote about a year ago (see below) that they had gotten a contract with Islandsflug on the 737-300/400: Once their contract with Islandsflug (now Air Atlanta Islandic) was up they both got a permanent job with Easyjet on the 737-700. They are having a great time living in London and flying for Easyjet. They have also been told that due to the upgrading of the Easyjet fleet they will soon be trained and start flying the Airbus A319.

16.02.2006
Congratulations Morten and Torgeir!

There can be no doubt that the job market for pilots with the right education and experience is on the rise. Morten and Torgeir started their education with NEAR/NAIA without any previous experience in July 2002 and now they are working as airline pilots flying the Jetstream 32/32 on passenger flights. Read more about their employer on:

Here on Torgeirs homepage you can read about, and see pictures from from their J31/32 Type Rating course in Woodford UK:

After completing Phase 1 – 4 of the NEAR/NAIA JAR-FCL Integrated Program they were trained by NEAR and worked for us at NAIA as JAR-FCL Authorized instructors. They returned to Norway with lots of experience as professional instructors and completed Phase 5 of our program with honors, passing all ATPL exams on the first attempt and completing all aircraft and simulator training as programmed. The combination of the high quality of an Integrated JAR-FCL program and their own hard work has put them where they are today. Congratulation, you both deserve it.

21.01.2006
We at NEAR are again happy to report that yet a student of ours has landed his first job, this time in SkyEurope. He is now doing the linetraining on the Boeing 737 500. Congratulations to you, Andreas. See also article in NEW HORIZONS.

02.01.2006
We are starting 2006 with more good news from the pilot employment market: In November no less than seven of the graduates from NEAR attended the conversion training/tech course on C208 Grand Caravan at the largest Cargo Airline in Norway BenAir. They will start their check out and line training as first officers beginning now in January. Flying the Turboprop Caravan on nightly cargo runs in the tough Norwegian climate gives the pilots valuable experience and they quickly move on to bigger airlines.

Widerøes Airline had admission tests for new pilots at Grand Hotel in Oslo yesterday. We were happy to learn that at least 7 of the students graduated from the NEAR Integrated ATPL Course were called in by Widerøe. We wish them the best of luck and hope they all passed their tests.

Widerøe which is Norway oldest airline have recruited 75 new pilots the last 18 months and will need 30 - 60 more during 2006 depending on how many contracts for the regional short field routes they get. The answer will be in by the end of October.

We are always happy to hear from formar students that the NEAR Training paid off. Today one more of our graduates from the NEAR INTEGRATED ATPL program reported that he would start his C208 Type Rating Course with KatoAir the coming weekend (11.06.2005). He graduated from the NEAR Integrated ATPL course before Christmas 2004 and after a few months of skillful job application he was hired by KatoAir to be First Officer in their C208 Cargo operation.

This is the third of our students in two years that are hired by KatoAir. The KatoAir pilots get valuable experience doing comercial air operations in the tough climate of northern Norway and most of them are later hired by larger airlines.
